I love this look especially for the holidays. You need heavy duty aluminum foil and alcohol inks. You will also need either a Cuttlebug embossing folder or a stylus to freehand draw on the foil

I love that! I'm going to have to try it. It'll give me an excuse to get out my Cuttlebug and play. :)

I never noticed this tutorial before! I just bought some alcohol inks and have not tried them out yet, think I'm gonna follow your step by step instructions to make the flowers and see how I go! Thanks

I don't have any of the alcohol inks, but this looks really fun!

I wonder if you can run the foil in your Cuttlebug Embossing folders? Either before or after you put the alcohol inks on. I may check it out.

That is what I did in the tutorial - you can do it before or after, I like before because it becomes more delicate to work with after, and this way you can select the neatest inked up area to emboss etc....

Kristen, yes you can. Some use crystal effects on the back to fill in the "dented in" part of the image so it will hold it's shape. If I were to do it, I probably would too, cuz I wouldn't want to go to all that work and then have the image "smashed" down with mailing or whatever. Others also have said to use heavy foil and not the cheap thin stuff as it holds the shape/design better.

So I ran some foil through my Cricut. I would suggest the heavy, thicker foil. I cut about 9 flowers and was only able to get 3 off the sticky mat without tearing. Then I put them in an embossing folder after I inked them. And I didn't actually run them through the Cuttlebug, I just rub the top a little. I used thin foil so it worked well. The made a shadow flower (using the Cricut again) to adhere to the back of them. So they would be so flimsy.

I tried taking a picture tonight of the card I made with them, but I wasn't happy with it. So I'll take a better one in the morning when the sun is up.

I haven't done much with alcohol inks but it was fun to experiment.

Oh, FYI, it has some buttons on it...

You must use heavy duty or thicker foil. I hope my tutorial says that...it has been a while, but that is all I use.

It does. I just skimmed through it the first time. I was so anxious to try this out. But it turned out okay using the thinner foil. I think I'll save my cutting mats that are not so sticky to try this again. The foil would stick enough to cut it but would come up more easily.

I will post a picture later. It's so cloudy this morning. Maybe the sun will be out later to take a nice picture.
