We have had an unusual amount of really nasty spam. If you see it please report the post or if you're on the dt and have moderator status delete the post and ban the user. It can all be done by first checking the box at the top of the post then using the drop down at the bottom to delete the post as spam. You're then taken to a new page where you can Physically remove the post and ban the user.
This stuff is really sickening. The only way to stop it is to put all new users into moderation which is a pain for them and us but we may have to resort to that soon anyway.

barb, tonight was really bad. I just banned Choomahah (http://www.embellish-online.com/forum/member.php?u=285) and his 8 gross posts were deleted.

fyi, in the past month, there were others, since I"m on late at night and I deleted the posts.

I just figured out how to ban users, so I'll go back and ban them if I remember their user names.

This is really sickening. It makes me want to puke. Do they get pleasure out of making us rush to delete posts as quickly as possible? I can't get there fast enough to do it. YUKKKKKK

I banned two this am also. For the protection of everyone I think this is the way to go Barb.

Can we put a filter on the forum so that bad or nasty stuff can't be posted?

Also there is spam trap software that - would that help?

there's been alot usually late at night Barb. TOnight was the worse though.

IN the past, it was just 1 post here and there, but tonight's guy was on a rampage.

There is a spam trap and I've posted in the vb forum to find out how to get it. It's not something I can just activate. I'll put all new users into moderation. They will be able to post but the posts aren't supposed to show to the general public until they're approved

Hopefully I've put all new users into moderation. Mods will still see the posts however but at least the public won't be able to.

Suzy.. you get emails of new users right? If you get emails and go into edit profile here is a list of known spam email address':
http://www.stopforumspam.com/spamdomainsandips
Ban everyone from these email address.

Suzy and Julie, I have added you as a user at vbulletin.org forums. I'm not sure what you need to do to post but I'll figure that out later.

I have also temporarily disabled new user registration to stop this for today at least. If you know someone who wants to register send me their username and email and I'll do it manually.

It's been just awful. I bet there were 20 new registrations that were spammers. I've had to disable all new registrations, installed a spam api key to help combat them and am posting their usernames in the vb forum for everyone else to see!

They find any vb forum or any forum for that matter and post their garbage. The vb forum has 13 pages of people posting spammer usernames I saw some of the ones from today on their list too.

Oh, WOW.....I hope I missed the spam people...
