I am forever buying stencils. I love them and pick them up when they are on clearance sale. I decided to try and see if I can stamp and emboss with them. I first put the stencil over a piece of cardstock and used a Versamark stamp pad turned upside down to stamp directly over the stencil. I, then, removed the stencil and sprinkled embossing powder over it and heated it with an embossing gun. It worked!

You will want to be careful getting extra ink marks on your project. Be sure to hold the stamp pad so that it just covers the stencil.

Just clean the stencil off with a little warm water and it's as good as new. Now I have even more things that I can stamp onto projects!:)

great tip Peg....

you must have an extremely wet and juicy versamark pad.

You can get a similar result by using embossing paste that comes in clear, white or black. You can then sprinkle glitter or embossing powder on it, either one color or multi-colors.

Its very cool because the paste is very thick and gives it incredible dimension ....(it literally is raised from the card).

And since brass stencils can get spendy, you can substitute with chipboard - use your favorite dies (either your own or at your lss, schools, etc.) to create your designs.

Then, use the NEGATIVE chipboard (meaning, the one one the holes where the shapes have been punched out), and use THAT as your "stencil."

Then use it with all sorts of color mediums to apply color or use this embossing tip that you shared...or use the embossing paste.

What's great is that there's no clean up. You can just toss the home made "stencil."

I had that embossing paste and never used it so now it's hard as a rock.

hmmm, wonder if there's a way to reconstitute it? I'll have to find out!

I wrote the people and they said to add some water...that was long time ago. I don't think that could be done now.

I do like the way paste looks. There is a stamp show coming to town and I will see if I can find some frest paste :)

I bought some of the paste several months ago. I have done anything with it. It came with an instructional DVD that maybe I'll look at some day.
