Would you ever be interested in scrapping for other people?

I only made an album for someone one other time. I was a bit stressed because I was not sure if they would like it or not, plus it took a lot of my time that I wanted to use on my scrapbook. However maybe if I did not work full time it would be something I would consider again.

I wouldn't mind, as long as, I would be able to do it the way I think and not have them saying they wanted this and that and this and they have it pictured in a certain way. If they have it pictured in a certain way then they should be doing it. lol

I scrap for my sis and a friend at times... but I do it just so I can scrap some 12x12 here and there.... I don't know if I could do it for a stranger or not.

no, because people who ask OTHERS to scrap for them have no idea what it really takes to scrap. And they would be appalled by the cost of the items used, nevermind the time I or any scrapper would put into it.

I have made gift albums before, but I just make it "pretty" enough for them and don't really do the things I would normally do on my pages for my album.

I have done two wedding albums - as gifts - for both my brother and my best friend. I have another very good friend getting married in November and offered to do hers as well.

As it is a gift, and they know this, I don't allow them a whole heck of a lot of imput. Possibly color of the album - the rest is generally matched to the wedding itself.

I do this on the side. I make personalized cards, scrapbook albums and mini albums. I have a few people (clients I guess) that are regulars. I also have lots of friends that have me make things for them. They usually buy my supplies and a couple bottles of wine and I'm good.;)

I have a new "client" that I am designing some cards for (along with a friend of mine) and if they like what they see it will be several hundred cards that we'll need to make. Thank goodness it doesn't have to be all at once.

But I can pick what I want to do and what I have time to do so it's kind of a little side income for now.

I made an album for my friend's daughter. She had gone to Europe and her mom wanted to surprise her with it full of scrapped pictures. I hopped right to it and did 20 - 12 x 12 pages, when my friend called and said she had been talking to another scrapper and found out the cost of what it "should" be. She was flabberghasted and told me to "never mind".....she couldn't afford it. Of course, my fault for not discussing it with her in the first place. Long story short - or short story long --- I charged her a case of beer and vowed to never do that again........still waiting for the beer! AND I am dumb enough to be doing an 8 x 8 breast cancer walk album for the same lady - I just love doing it and can't say no!!

Yes, because I do. The people who pay me to do it also know my style and trust me.

I don't do scrapbook layouts for myself, let alone for someone else. They are such a personal expression of yourself.

On the other hand, I do make cards, notecards, altered gifts and treats for people. Like Debbie said, I only make things for people who know me and my style.

Wow Bonnie~ What a bummer!

I do albums for gifts but have never done one for someone and had them pay for it. I think it would be really hard to scrap for someone else. I would do cards or other alterable items for hire though. Have never been asked though...

Bonnie, I would NOT do anything without getting pd first from her. I don't know about you, but it takes alot of MY time to do a scrapbook and my time is worth something.

The football scrapbook I showed in the gallery was for a friend and she pd me very well! I kept track of my time and supplies. It came to about $4.50 a page plus supplies. This was the second time she had me help her with scrapbooking. She is an AWESOME scrapper, but was getting burned out on Logan's football pages and wanted something separate for him as it was his senior year.
I also make lots of paperbag albums for sale, plus give lots of them away, as well as papercrafted gifts like I've been showing in my gallery, cards, etc

Only for people I know...close friends or family. Most of my friends scrap though so there's no need. I have made a few albums for family and they loved them but I don't go all out on them (except my Mom's because she appreciates the work).

I have done a few swaps when part of the challenge was to "scrap" someone else's pictures...gosh was that tough! SO, I vowed then that would not do books for others unless it was for a gift.

I have some ladies at work that want to buy cards but even that is hard for me as they have no idea the work that goes into them...and when someone doesn't appreciate your masterpieces it's hard to put an adequete price on them.

Dianna I totally agree with you. Layouts are very hard to do for others and I have tryed ! Conveying a feeling is so difficult when you dont feel anything for the person you are scrapping for. When I have done it for others it has never been my best work.

Cards no biggie I do them all the time as well as altered gift.
