If you have run out of glue dots such as Dots or Zots and are in a pinch to make something stand out away from your paper dig out your hot glue gun and create a small puddle of hot glue. Let it sit so that the glue is hardening on the edges, but still liquid in the middle. Place your piece on it and let it cool. This helps to make things stand out from the paper and adds dimension to your project.

I have had to do that in a pinch before. The only thing I wouldn't do is an embellishment or paper that is too thin. I remember something a while back that kind of "pruned" up and made the embellishment kind of puckered. It was fine because no one else was really going to see it.
