I read recently on a blog a good tip for collecting small items like stones and things like your embossing powders when you pour them. Hold your item over a coffe filter and let everything fall into it. When you are finished just pour it back into the container. I found this even helpful when I looking for a certain color eyelet and have to pour them out to find what I'm looking for. You can reuse the filter for the same color of embossing powders or whatever powder you are using each time. I put them in a ziploc bag to keep what little is left from getting all over and pull them out as I need them.

I do the coffee filter thing and keep a stack of them in my scrapping area. It is such a great idea I wish I had thought of it sooner.

why a coffee filter vs some other material? because its already soft and pliable? because it may be static free?

Trying to wrap my head around why its a coffee filter.

The blog didn't say why she chose coffee filters but maybe it's because they are reasonably priced and you get a lot of them to use. Plus they are flexible to squeeze a little to form a funnel shape for pouring. :)
