I started 7 years ago when my dd was born.
this was one craft/hobby, I hadn't planned on getting into... but that changed when dd was born. LOL

Then I got mom and sis into it.

I've only been doing it for 2 1/2 years, maybe a lit bit more. I started right after my daughter was born in July of 2005.

I started in 1998, after my trip to Europe... I did a couple of pages and cut up all the photos....never did anything after that. Then in 2003 I started again for real :) I love making cards :)

I've been scrapping for about 6 years. I just cringe when I look at those early books. I'm leaving them though, it show my transformation if you will! :)
I feel like I think about paper crafting all the time. I'm always jotting down title ideas and thinking about my pictures and what I want to do with them.

My new goal with my scrapping is to focus more on he story behind the photos. I know not every photo has one, but I got lazy and haven't really been putting down any heartfelt journaling lately. I'm going to pick a quiet evening and just go through my photos and start writing down the story. That way when I'm ready to scrap them I don't have to worry about the journaling, I can just pop it one there when I'm done with the layout. We'll see when it actually happens!

:crowd:Julie, you have quite moments? When?

he he, I started back in 96 when I went on my first vacation without my parents. It was the first time me and my cousin went anywhere by ourselves.

So I scrapped that vacation the non acid free way. Then I found CM and bought alot. Then I found M and the big box stores, and just needed to buy everything snow / winter related I could possibly find to scrap my skiing vacations.

Hmmmm...I've been collecting ever since. Just never thought I had the right stuff and/or didn't want to waste what I already owned on a possibly unworthy layout.

Sigh....finally inventoried and sorted through my stash in an effor to get everything organized this past year, and you know what? I have to die a few times to use up all that I have!! So I've begun finally scrapping again. Creating layouts just for the fun of it and I'm having the time of my life.

Hi Ching~ I know what you mean about the quantities of stuff! I have a hard time making anything I have so many things to choose from. So I started making more and selling some off. I just sold like 30 SU! stamp sets on Craigslist. It feels so good to get rid of some of the things I no longer use.

really? I've heard that craigslist works but I just haven't taken the time to do it.

I'm about to have a huge scrap yard sale in 2 weeks with about a dozen other girls. Its being advertised everywhere so we have high hopes. I do at least to walk away later.

I had never done it either but it was really easy. I'd do it again. I don't even want to add up the real cost of the sets compared to what I got for them. The retired SU! sets just don;t go for what they used to. It's kind of depressing! I never used the retired ones though so I had to make room for some new.

I know and I feel your pain Julie. I've let go of some stamp sets that were $27.95 and up for just $5.

Sigh...but it accomplished my goal of just clearning out.

When I was an active demo, I cleared out at the end of the year (in July when SU would announce their new catty, but I hear you all are on a quarterly basis now) and definitely right around the holidays.

I had monthly 12 hour crops in a hotel conference rooms of 25-30 regulars, so I was able to clear them out for around 40-50% off. So they got a deal and I got rid of them. But selling them off for like $5 just made me cringe!

I have been scrapping for (OMGosk grabbing the fingers & toes here)...oh yeah, since our girl child was about 12'ish and she's 19 now. We actually started this journey called "scrapbooking" together. Instantly we fell in love with the craft and spent our weekends scrapping away at the kitchen table (seems so long ago- I truly miss those days with her). It was a fantastic bonding time for us as she is my step-daughter and we were still getting used to each other as a family.

Anywho...she still graces my scrapbooking time now and then but mainly I scrap with my group of girlfriends here in town or we travel to fun places.

I do this for my sanity and for my family. I want them to remember their childhood and teenage years. I love to do fun pages about their events or just whip up pages of anything that's special to us...a few "just for fun" pages are a nice touch as well.

WOW! Much more than you bargained for...right? lol
